Nancy Pelosi just escalated her war with Donald Trump.

The Speaker of the House is picking a fight where neither side wants to back down.

Nancy Pelosi signed a letter that Donald Trump knew was bad news.

As Conservative Revival reports:

Woke cancel culture is rampaging across America.

Liberal mobs tear down historical monuments in TV images not seen by Americans since Iraqis tore down the statue of Saddam Hussein and iconic American movies such as Gone With the Wind are erased.

The latest front in the left’s war to police thought in America came when Nancy Pelosi fired off a letter to the two chairs of the Joint Committee Library Republican Senator Roy Blunt and California Democrat Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren demanding the committee banish the Civil War statues some states sent to the Capitol.

“While I believe it is imperative that we never forget our history lest we repeat it, I also believe that there is no room for celebrating the violent bigotry of the men of the Confederacy in the hallowed halls of the United States Capitol or places of honor across the country,” Pelosi wrote.

“The statues in the Capitol should embody our highest ideals as Americans, expressing who we are and who we aspire to be as a nation,” the Speaker of the House continued. “Monuments to men who advocated cruelty and barbarism to achieve such a plainly racist end are a grotesque affront to these ideals.”

Pelosi later claimed she had the authority to move the statues on her own.

Pelosi’s letter came one day President Trump defended military bases named after confederate generals.

The President spoke up in opposition to proposals floated by Secretary of Defense Mark Esper to establish a commission to rename the instillations.

“It has been suggested that we should rename as many as 10 of our Legendary Military Bases, such as Fort Bragg in North Carolina, Fort Hood in Texas, Fort Benning in Georgia, etc,” President Trump stated. “These Monumental and very Powerful Bases have become part of a Great American Heritage, and a history of Winning, Victory, and Freedom. The United States of America trained and deployed our HEROES on these Hallowed Grounds, and won two World Wars.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell also threw cold water on Pelosi’s power grab telling reporters that this was an issue left up to the states.

“I think the appropriate way to deal with this issue is to stick with the tradition,” McConnell explained.

“A number of states are trading them out now, but I think that’s the appropriate way to deal with the statue issue,” the Senate Majority Leader continued. “The states make that decision.”

Polls show Pelosi is on the wrong side of this fight.

A poll taken this June – even after the death of George Floyd and the ensuing protests – by Huffington Post/YouGuv found just 33 percent of Americans supported removing Confederate statutes and memorials and 49 percent supported keeping them in place.

If Pelosi wants to pick this fight with Donald Trump it will be waged on unfavorable political terrain.
