Vice President Mike Pence spent the last four years faithfully defending Donald Trump.
But now predictions about Pence’s future has all hell breaking loose.
And now rumors are flying that Mike Pence is about to get kicked off the ballot. You won’t believe who could replace him.
Paul Begala was one of the architects of Bill Clinton’s 1992 election victory.
Begala recently spoke at the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) conference when Begala made a prediction about Mike Pence’s future on the 2020 ticket.
According to Begala, Donald Trump will announce that former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley will replace Mike Pence on the ticket on the day the eventual Democrat nominee delivers their acceptance speech at the party’s national convention in Milwaukee this July.
“On Thursday, July 16, that’s the date the Democrat gives his or her acceptance address. On that day, to interrupt that narrative, Donald Trump will call a press conference at Mar-a-Lago. He’s gonna dump Mike Pence and put Nikki Haley on the ticket to try to get those suburban moms,” Begala told the crowd.
Begala speculated that President Trump tapped the Vice President to manage the government’s response to the spread of the coronavirus to pin the blame on Pence for the inevitable outbreak as the number of cases across America skyrockets.
“You watch. Guaranteed,” Begala explained. “Trump put Pence in charge of coronavirus to throw him under the bus.”
Every few months someone in Washington floats a rumor about the President dropping Pence from the ticket.
Under Begala’s scenario, the President naming Haley as his new Vice President would suck a lot of the oxygen away from the Democrat nominee’s acceptance speech.
That could deny the Democrat Party nominee the post-convention bounce a candidate usually enjoys.
But there are several problems with this theory.
Those convention bounces usually disappear within a week.
And since the Democratic National Convention is in July, the post-convention bounce should play no role in deciding the election.
Secondly, even Democrats have so far praised Vice President Pence on his managing of the government response to the coronavirus.
Maryland Democrat Senator Ben Cardin emerged from a briefing with Pence and other health professionals and could not say enough good things about the administration’s presentation.
“I do believe that Vice President Pence is surrounding himself with the experts he needs, and he is energizing the private sector to provide what we need,” Cardin told reporters.
“Obviously the test kits are the No. 1 issue right now, and we’re well behind what we need,” Cardin added. “Starting from where we are right now, I was confident that what they’re doing makes sense.”
Finally, Trump supporters would not be happy with Haley as Vice President.
In the 2016 primary, Haley used her response to Barack Obama’s final State of the Union to attack Donald Trump as an ‘angry voice’ and many conservatives suspect Haley is a pro-open borders RINO and an undercover Never Trumper.
