The Democrats’ plan to win back the Senate in 2020 just took a major hit.
The left was blindsided by a scandal that made Americans stomachs turn.
And Chuck Schumer’s link to one awful sex crime will leave you speechless.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is among the most powerful men in Washington.
But not even he can likely survive the complete disaster that is currently gripping the Democratic party in the wake of Jeffrey Epstein’s pedophilia scandal.
And after taking money from Epstein, Schumer is now backtracking as quickly as possible before the scandal gets any worse.
But unfortunately for the New York Democrat, it may already be too late for him.
His latest attempt to cover up the mess he’s now involved in could be a last-ditch effort to save his political career.
CNBC reports, “New York Sen. Chuck Schumer will offset more than $7,000 in campaign contributions from accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein by donating the money to anti-sex trafficking and anti-violence against women groups.”
This could be earth-shattering news for Schumer.
The fact that he took more than 7,000 dollars from a pedophile making national headlines at the moment is something that the New York Democrat doesn’t want people to know about.
And Schumer is worried that if the news gets out, it could spell the end of his career.
Which is why he’s giving the money away.
The problem for Schumer however, is that the damage has already been done.
“Epstein gave seven $1,000 donations to Schumer between 1992 and 1997, according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, and gave more to Schumer-related PACs,” adds CNBC.
This is a relationship that goes back over 20 years.
And yet Schumer has remained silent until now.
He had no problem taking the money from Epstein until it became politically inconvenient to do so.
Which is why his office is scrambling to try and dodge the issue altogether.
“While these campaign accounts closed about 20 years ago, and even then the campaign never controlled the two political action committees (PACs), Senator Schumer is donating an equal sum to anti-sex trafficking and anti-violence against women groups,” Schumer’s office said in a statement last week.
The Epstein scandal has the ability to take down multiple key Democrats across the country.
And Chuck Schumer is just one of many that could be hit hard by the scandal.
But while the New York Senator isn’t the first person Epstein gave money to, he also won’t be the last to be caught up in what is quickly developing into one of the largest sex scandals of the century.
“Democratic Rep. Stacey Plaskett, who Open Secrets said received $8,100 from Epstein, announced Tuesday that she would donate money from Epstein, a day after a spokesman told CNBC she’d keep the donations. Plaskett represents the Virgin Islands,” concludes CNBC’s story on the scandal.
It seems there are many more Democrats who could be slammed by the scandal in ways they weren’t expecting.
We will keep you up to date with any new developments in this ongoing story.
