The coronavirus is completely upending American life.
And that includes the Democrat Party and their 2020 plans.
Now Barack Obama’s jaw was on the ground when he got hit with the coronavirus reality.
It’s been clear from the beginning that Barack Obama wasn’t overly enthusiastic about his former Vice President, Joe Biden, running for president.
In fact, rumors have even circulated that Obama tried to talk Biden out of running.
Certainly, Barack Obama has refused to endorse Joe Biden even when the Democratic Party rallied behind Joe Biden to keep Bernie Sanders from getting the nomination.
Back on Super Tuesday, it seemed as if Joe Biden was facing an uphill battle when he faces off against Trump in November.
Joe Biden has problems in terms of his conduct towards women, confused statements and senile demeanor.
Joe Biden’s strongest pitch to the American people was that he’s more harmless than Trump.
The Chinese coronavirus could be a political bonus to Democrats.
Tragedies often work to help the political party that is not in power.
They can claim, however falsely, that they could have handled the crisis better.
In this case, the Democrats aren’t capitalizing off the coronavirus because their entire pitch with Biden was that Donald Trump was a menace to society that needed to be stopped at any cost even if he was replaced with an old man who’s having trouble functioning.
In the face of a larger threat, Biden’s appeal completely vanishes.
A former campaign manager to Barack Obama thinks the coronavirus is very bad news for Biden.
According to The Daily Wire:
Thursday, former campaign manager and senior adviser to President Barack Obama, David Plouffe, said that, despite the coronavirus crisis, President Trump is going to turn out his voters “almost at a historical level” in November, while Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden’s inability to get much national attention during the crisis is putting him at a serious disadvantage.
“You look at the economic situation and say, ‘How can an incumbent win in that?’ But, you know, no one’s blaming Trump for the damage,” Plouffe said, as reported by Fox News.
“I think if you can lay his crisis response at his feet and connect that to the economy, I do think that’s some headwind he’s got to run into,” he said. But so far, he suggested, that’s not what’s taking place. Instead, the American people are looking to Trump and other leaders with actual authority, like New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) and California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), while Biden has largely fallen off the national radar.
Joe Biden hasn’t held political office in almost four years, and many of America’s failures to be adequately prepared are the fault of Obama’s administration that failed to replace the N95 masks that were taken out of the federal stockpile and let the contractor bail on their deal to make ventilators.
Joe Biden is part of the failure and he’s not part of the solution.
At the moment, he’s just an old man waving at a camera and that really isn’t a presidential look.
