Barack Obama did not endorse Joe Biden in the primaries.
Americans are beginning to understand why.
That’s because Barack Obama told a truth about Joe Biden. Democrats couldn’t believe what he said.
For the first two nights of the convention, Democrats largely avoided talking up their own ticket and focused instead on bashing President Trump.
Former First Lady Michelle Obama set the tone for the angry and divisive convention by failing to mention Kamala Harris in her speech because it was taped before Biden named Harris as his running mate.
Obama could have taped some more remarks praising Harris and let the convention organizers edit them into her speech.
Barack Obama took a different tact, but it ended up no less insulting to the Democrat ticket.
No matter that Joe Biden is the Democrat nominee for president, Barack Obama is still the biggest and leader of the party.
Biden served as Obama’s Vice President.
So if there was ever a moment for the “passing of the torch,” one would think it would involve Obama laying his blessing on Biden.
But that is not what is happening at the Democratic National Convention.
Instead, Obama will hand the baton for the future of the Democrat Party to Kamala Harris, Biden’s running mate.
“Initially, the convention had Obama speaking AFTER the VP pick tonight. But once Kamala Harris was selected, Obama suggested switching & speaking first. ‘It felt like an opportunity to symbolically pass the torch,’ a source close to him said,” fake news CNN’s Jeff Zeleny reported.
Zeleny is a true-blue Obama acolyte – in Obama’s first term, Zeleny asked Obama at a press conference what “enchanted” him about being President – so his scoop is trusted.
This week is supposed to be the moment of glory Joe Biden sought since his first run for President in 1988.
But instead, Barack Obama confirmed what everyone basically knew, which is that Joe Biden is just a mentally diminished stand-in that is there to serve as a warm body whose name appears on the ballot.
Kamala Harris – as most people presumed – would be the one actually running the government.
A recent Rasmussen poll found that 59 percent of voters do not believe Joe Biden will serve a full four-year term if elected President, and given that Biden would be 82 when he would potentially face the voters again in 2024, that is a safe bet.
Obama anointing Harris by symbolically passing her the torch means Democrats want Biden to step aside sooner rather than later if he wins the election.
Some pundits believe a President Biden could give way to Harris after the 2022 midterms to allow her to run for re-election in 2022 as the first black female President.
